Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club FTV voucher on a 241 AMEX booking

  • 12 posts

I had an amex 241 voucher expiring soon, so I booked a one way domestic flight for 2 people using the voucher. I cancelled the voucher 2 days late and requested a single FTV.

I received an email from BA with 2 voucher codes and the following text:

“You can use this voucher to pay or part-pay for a new booking. We’ll give you another voucher if you don’t use its full value. Your voucher has the same value as your original booking.

Flights or holidays booked using your voucher must be completed by 30 September 2023”

Is it correct for there to be two voucher codes?
Is it correct that the 241 voucher isn’t mentioned?

    Thanks

Yes , all normal. When you call back they’ll put the new flights inside the same 6 digit booking reference and deduct any extra Avios/cash

Hi, I’m also in the same position. If I book a domestic on the Amex 241 and then cancel the booking, is it as easy as that to extend my voucher to Sep 2023? This would give me an extra 14 months from the current end date of Jul 2022.

    Yes,

    I did this recently.

Booked with a 2-4-1 for a date before it expired. I immediately cancelled for a voucher which I received inside 5 minutes. Then I rang back up to make a booking for after my voucher expiry date.

    All ticketed 🙂

Note: It took maybe 4 or 5 days before the booking was actually ticketed. The ticket can be found by clicking “Print/email e-ticket receipt” in Manage My Booking.

Yes, that form is massively misleading. Actually you will have ticked ‘Request a single e-voucher‘ box, which is all a bit unnecessary as 241 bookings will always be a FTV not an e-voucher.

An e-voucher is just a cash value voucher, like a gift card, which you can use online for anyone.

For an FTV, the numbers are the original ticket numbers (they should tally with your original e-ticket) and therefore apply to each individual on the booking. The FTV can only be used for a future booking for those names. Everything else you might have in the booking, 241 vouchers, upgrade vouchers etc, is kept within the FTV credit although, slightly worryingly, it is not noted anywhere. Make sure you keep the original e-ticket so that you know what you have paid in avios and cash so far. That said, I have never had any issues with any of those figures being wrongly quoted by BA when I’ve comes to re-book.
