Just got an interesting email from BA:
We’re refunding your Reward Flight booking
InboxBritish Airways
Fri, Feb 25, 11:57 PM (2 minutes ago)
to [mr_jetlag]British Airways
Booking Reference:
Dear [mr_jetlag]We’re sorry you couldn’t travel on your Reward Flight Booking reference XXXXXX.
You accepted a Future Travel Voucher however we know there are some issues regarding the use of vouchers associated with Reward Flight bookings, so to offer you maximum flexibility we’ll be cancelling it and refunding you in full.
You don’t need to do anything. We’ll automatically credit the Avios back to your account and refund the money to your original form of payment. We expect this to take approximately 4 weeks and it means you’ll be able to use your Avios as you wish, to book a new trip on ba.com or however you choose when you are ready to return to the skies.
We look forward to welcoming you on board again soon.
Is this the start of the end for Book With Confidence? Anyone else get their vouchers refunded without prompting?
Already several threads on this topic.
It’s to ease pressure on the phones as processing a voucher takes far longer than you making a booking online.
Has been happening since December.
Please see the other thread on this subject.
Isn’t it this? https://www.headforpoints.com/2021/12/20/ba-is-cancelling-and-refunding-future-travel-vouchers-is-your-2-4-1-voucher-still-protected/
That’s been going on for a while. It’s less about BWC and more with reducing the pressure on call centres.

Well I got that email a month ago and money arrived with Amex 2 weeks later, but still no avios today.
So called BA, waited about 40 minutes to be answered and the guy was able to refund the avios immediately, but he said something was stopping it going automatically, so if I hadn’t put pressure on the call centre it may just have shown as a pending refund forever
Funny, that. Imagine the very idea that BA would want to hang onto your cash.
If you have a 2 for1 Avios voucher tied up in the FTV, what happens to the expiry date of the 2 for 1?
