Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Gaining extra Flying Club points from family

  • 9 posts

    Hi

Just when I think I’m clued up I then have another question.

I pay for my family when we fly to the USA each year but I didn’t realise I will only get the points for my ticket and not theirs (even though I pay for them). Is there another way I can bank their points without setting up separate Virgin Flying Club accounts for them?

We also flew premium but I only received 50 tier points for the flight out. Shouldn’t I receive more for a full price Premium booking?

    thanks

    1. To earn points everyone needs their own account. VS has a household account that allows pooling of points but individuals still need their own FC account. My knowledge on those is a little rusty so I’ll leave it at that and leave you look into that yourself.

    2. TPs depend on the fare code. A “full price premium booking” is meaningless as it’s the fare code that matters. H, K and P earn 50 and W & S earn 100 as per the VS TP table. The fare code should be on your booking confirmation and show up in your FC account once you have flown ad the points posted.

Despite it still being advertised as a silver benefit applications for Household accounts were suspended during COVID

Depending on where you look on the website, household accounts are either a Silver or Gold benefit – but ChasP highlights that may be irrelevant at the moment anyway if they have suspended it.

Premium is 50 tier points in H, K, and P booking classes, 100 tier points in W and S.

There’s nothing to stop family members crediting to another scheme (eg Singapore) or to SkyTeam when that’s available.
