Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Gatwick B777-200 Seating

    Hello,

    I’ve been trying to work out which club world seats are the best to select within club world on the Boeing 777-200 (Gatwick) plans. I’ve got 3 questions:

    1) I’m guessing there’s not really any good seats since they’re all positioned the same way? it’ll be myself and my partner. Seat plan here: https://www.britishairways.com/en-us/information/seating/seat-maps/full-seatmaps

    2) I also read the HfP guide to BA Club Suites and it mentions BA don’t plan on upgrading any of their Gatwick planes. Would I be right in assuming that it’s not worth the investment based on the age of those aircraft and they’ll no doubt replace the aircraft before they even get their investment back?

    3) Is there any news on when BA expect to replace those aircraft?

    Thank you 🙂

    I asked the same question so here goes (yet to actually fly) :

    1a- 4J/K – face each other and no clambering over people

    1b- Any 2 in the middle, though you need to clamber over people (I assume you don’t have this issue in row 4 though it seems blocked for bassinet) – anyone know when these are released?

    2/3 – correct. Apparently there are a few LHR777 flying out of LGW so you might get lucky.

    The same also applies to The A/B seats, in case that wasn’t clear.

    @ekposh
    The bassinet seats don’t seem to be released until OLCI opens.

    Thank you both, luckily I’ve already pre-selected 4J/K 🙂

    We flew to Cape Town on 21st Jan, having pre-selected 4J/K. I’m silver, wife gold.

    At check in we were reseated in 1J/K. Crew had no idea why. Not very happy as we booked the seats 9 months ago, but not much we can do about it I suppose. 1J/K are decent enough.

    On longer flights (>9 hrs?) 4K is usually blocked for crew rest, so 4A/B are the only ‘good’ seats available for a couple. Even if marked free by accident, it is possible that 4K could be reclaimed, as crew rest rules are pretty much a go/ no-go situation. (I’m not BA staff, just seen this explained before…)

    Hopefully not the case as I have booked 4J/K for the 7.5hr flight. Guess I’ll find out in 8 months time hehe

    Flying LGW Antigua early next year on BA2157 777-200/300, I can select seats for free before my RJ Status expires in Aug. We’ve been used to club suites recently, I assume for a couple any seat A and B or J and K rows 1 or 4?

    4J&K or 4A&B seem to be considered preferable as you don’t have anyone climbing over your feet and 4A or 4K have a private corner. 1B and 1J get climbed over by 2A and 2K respectively I think and 1 is near toilets and possibly noisy galley.

    You are of course ying/yang which might not be your preference for the day flight. I was after the bassinet seats 4D&E recently (both facing backwards but side by side with no one climbing over and not climbing over anyone else) but these are only released at T-72 hours if not used and in our case (BKK to LGW) must have been sometime between 72 and 48 hours and I missed it.

    In our case the best seats had been picked within 20 minutes of flights being released.

    Always risk of being moved too.

    The bassinet would be better in row 1.

    Why do you say that? I imagine the bassinet is in row 4 because it has the easiest access, for people potentially struggling with babies and all the associated paraphernalia.

    @chelseafifi
    always be wary of 4K as it can be used as a crew rest seat – and if that is decided later on you will get kicked out regardless of what else may be left by then. 4A/B are undoubtedly the best, and also therefore the most difficult to find available.

    1B/J do NOT get climbed over, 2A/K climb over row 3.

    Thank you for the advice, I’ll probably try for 4A/B.

    Why do you say that?

    On other BA ying yang aircraft the bassinet is at the front of the cabin at seat B or J with easy access from the aisle.

    On the 2-3-2 787’s and 380 upper deck yes as they don’t have two seats together in the middle. The 380 lower deck and other now obsolete 2-4-2 777’s it’s always been one of the middle pair at the back.
