Hi
We are flying from Gatwick on boxing day and will have access to the BA south business lounge.
First question is do they have champagne on request like LHR lounges?
Secondly, any tips or tricks from regulars to make our first Gatwick Club World experience a good one?
Thanks
There has been champagne available with no problems when I have asked for it on a couple of visits this year.
We may have been lucky with our Club Europe flight timings but the lounge has always been pretty quiet but well-stocked. Enjoy!
IMO the LGW Club/First lounges are way better than LHR, the staff are good too.
Buffet food is generally a decent range and there’s a salad bar, coffee machines, snacks etc.
Buffet choice gets limited during the transition from breakfast to rest of day when they are clearing/swapping dishes, but it doesn’t take long. I’m BAEC Gold so use the First lounge, but I’ll sometimes nip across to club as the buffet usually has more/better choice.
Probably cava on self-pour, but it won’t hurt to ask if there’s champagne, last time the Flounge had Palmer, also some English fizz, I’d guess the same would be used for requests in club.
Plenty of different areas to sit, have a wander and choose.
There are showers available too if you want to freshen up before flying. The showers and toilets put the main LHR lounges to shame.
Unless you want to go shopping, as you exit security, look for a passageway on the left, take that rather than going down the escalators. You’ll emerge on the upper level, walk around to the other side where there’s a door that leads to the lounges (BA ones are upstairs from here via lift or stairs).
You can take an empty bottle through security, fill it with your choice of still or fizzy from the dispenser tap in the lounge bar.
It’s a fantastic lounge. Yes champers on request, otherwise a well stocked bar and the food was great – quality and options. The First/Gold lounge was like a morgue in comparison last time I popped in. Good views of the runway.
Also the check-in at LGW is great for card holders/premium cabins. Much quicker than the self bag-drop.
I agree with the comments above. The BA lounge at Gatwick South is indeed very good. Plenty of space, clean and great runway views. Champagne on request.
As mentioned above – use the shortcut to get there right after security to the left. Avoid going down to the main departure hall unless you plan to do some last minute duty feee shopping.
@cats_are_best Do they provide towels for the showers? Thanks
