Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Generous Virgin gesture

  • 8 posts

This was a nice surprise, a friend was travelling in economy LHR to MIA, the day before she was phoned by Virgin offered an upgrade to PE which for £230 which she duly accepted.

Yesterday we got to the first wing checkin (travelling with my wife who was in UC) she was informed that there was no availability in PE would she like a refund or go in economy (any seat that was available both ways) and receive a voucher for a PE return flight anywhere in the world for later use. Of course she accepted the voucher – the check in guy gave her a lovely economy lux seat.

I thought this was n unexpectedly generous offer.

Sadly they subsequently lost my wife’s check in bag!

Virgin are known for being quite generous in these circumstances, however I have read of people subsequently having a lot of difficulty using such vouchers as they are only valid for certain types of bookings.

The friend is also eligible for downgrade compensation, regardless of any additional gestures made by Virgin.

I wasn’t aware of the compensation thanks I’ll let her know
