Forums Payment cards American Express Getting refunds for cancelled BA flights from Amex

Does this sound familiar to anyone else?
BA cancels a flight you booked a year earlier. The BAPP card to which the money returns is long ago cancelled. Amex used to just transfer the credit balance to any open Amex card you have. No longer

OK if its a small amount you can eventually after a couple of calls get them to send you a cheque. Once it goes over 1K their policy changes

You have to send them a redacted scan of your bank account- which of course you have been paying their card with for years already and they have the details. Never mind

They also want the displayed transactions which are now sitting on your card balance, Of course yo have no record on your bank statement because that flight you booked to SFO back in Jan 21 was paid along with a bunch of other stuff in that months payment – on yes you guessed it, your card statement.

No matter the card is zero balance and was cancelled in good standing.

Two months, five calls, three promises from managers to resolve it in a day or two and guess where I am. No cheque no refund , no responsibility taking.

I may have to write, yes write, a complaint letter to get my own money back.

    And ideas or similar experiences?

Sounds like you need to raise a formal complaint. That’ll resolve it fairly swiftly.
