Gift or Transfer Avios? Confused.

Can anyone explain what the difference is between gifting and transferring avios between BA exec club members?

Looking through previous HfP articles, one in 2023, it suggests transferring 27,000 avios attracted a fee of £15. But looking at BA today it seems transfer fee is £50 and limit is 60,000……BUT gifting has a higher limit of 200,000 avios and I can’t see any reference to a fee at all?

Anyone know the subtleties of this or is it simply user error 🙂

Gifting is when you buy avios for someone else. Not usually a good deal unless there’s a bonus offer on.

Gifting is where you BUY avios for someone else – hence the higher limit. And cost

Transferring is where you transfer your own avios over.
