Discuss today's stories:
So we have 4 seats BA 1st class London to Singapore for May 22nd returning June 4th which we are going to cancel.
It isn’t an easy decision but friends have booked for Thailand in August and we have decided to change our plans to go with them. [we were planning to fly on to Thailand anyway]
We will just purchase economy tickets for this years trip instead [as I know redemptions will have gone] and book again in July [when our next 2for1 comes in] for next May next year instead for Singapore.
Now my question is, do my avios seats go back into the redemption pool so I can give you folks a heads up incase you want them or does it not work like that?
In the same why that possibly someone giving up 4 seats in August may help me out [Only kidding about that bit]
Thanx
P.s I totally gutted to be giving up these seats [1st world problems and all] but weighed up all the pros and cons of course.
There is no guarantee they will go back into inventory (especially F) and even if they do it may not be immediately after you cancel.
Yikes, with 4 x F seats bagged I think I’d be trying to squeeze in both trips!
Did you use a 241 and will it still be valid if you cancel? I’m just thinking that even though I don’t think BA are re-starting BKK until the winter, you could use that to get part of the way there?
It’s nice of you to give people a possible heads up so they know to keep an eye out for the potential re-appearance of seats, I’m sure there are some who have CW bookings they would love to upgrade!
Wow, giving up 4x F seats to somewhere like SIN must have been extremely difficult! If you used 241’s, hope you’ll still be able to use them later.
What were the taxes out of curiosity? I remember someone else recently got 4x F’s, and they only paid something like £2200 (IIRC), which seemed on the low side.

We did use 2for1s and yes unfortunately we will lose 1 as I can’t see us getting availability in August [quite strict dats of 4 – 20th, unless you have any tips 😉 . [But can use the second 1 next year before June and we get another this July too]
I think we will try for Singapore again next year as Iv’e never travelled 1st class and the BKK route doesn’t have a first I believe. Iv’e been a few times as I used to live that way but never with the family & the 9year old really wants to go still as we always do Thailand and shes a privileged kid to ‘only’ see Thailand each year, boohoo ha.
That’s if we can get it.
As tempting as both is we cant do 2 x 6k holidays in the same year, being self employed its already quite difficult getting time away.
When I cancel I will do a new forum post then people can hopefully search as 1st availability doesn’t show on reward finder/seat spy I don’t think

Yes £2200 just under for the fees on the 4 seats. So gutted to give them up but hey ho.
We did have 2for1’s, 1 will still be valid next year plus we get another soon so thats not too gutting.
Trigger an Barclaycard Avios 1 also pretty soon so that will be interesting putting into the mix of options.
F does show on SeatSpy and RFF, though theoretically someone could scoop them up from ba.com before they appear. BA doesn’t guarantee to release any F though, so you might not be so lucky next year 😪
How are you planning to get to Thailand? You could very likely use the expiring 241 to get to DXB/DOH and connect from there.

Thanx, not great then. I’ll still give a heads up just incase
@Michael C, great idea that!
@squishsquash shame to give up Sin F seats, l put on here we were canc 2 F to KUl, in the days of ex QR J sales to Asia. Bought seats for around the £850 mark! Those were the days. They got snapped up by a hfp ter, so def worth announcing a time you are planning to cancel. Good chance someone on here will snap them up.
