I cancelled my Amex Platinum on 13 September 2022. This means that from 14 September 2024, I should be eligible for the AMEX platinum signup bonus.
I cancelled my British Airways Premium Plus Amex card on 10 September 2023. This means I should be eligible for any British Airways amex sign up bonus from 11 September 2025.
However, my question is, when will I be eligible for the AMEX gold sign up bonus? Which criteria does the AMEX gold apply to the traditional route (platinum) or British Airways?
My plan is to wait until September next year and get the Gold or Platinum sign up bonus. Thanks.
Won’t be eligible for the AMEX gold sign up bonus until 11 September 2025
Ok, so, wait until September 2024 and go for platinum – wait a year as the fee is not pro rata and cancel in September 2025.
However, can I get Amex Gold now and not loose the opportunity to get the Amex Platinum sign up bonus next year?

No. If you get a Gold card now (even without welcome bonus) you cannot get the Platinum SUB next year as you cannot have held an MR earning card in the previous 24 months.
In the current environment, with the rules constantly evolving, trying to plan two years ahead may not be very fruitful.
