Hi All,
I’ve been looking to upgrade my Amex Gold to Platinum and take advantage of the offer that’s doing the rounds at the moment.
The website says my gold card is eligible however when I hit the ‘upgrade now’ button I’m taken through to a page that says I don’t have an eligible card.
I called up to enquire why I wasn’t eligible and was told my account wasn’t open long enough. The thing is I opened the account in August 2022… I asked the rep if they could tell me how long the account needed to be open for but was told they didn’t have that information.
Does anyone have any insight on how long the account needs to be open to be eligible?
Thanks
Amex sensibly doesn’t provide that information and it probably isn’t a fixed time period, but some have said it can be up to a year before you are eligible. Obviously they don’t want people taking out a Gold now, bagging the SUB and then seeking to upgrade for a further SUB, so maybe it’s currently a little stricter.
Aye I’ve seen some people say a year. I was just a bit suprised to not be eligible as I’m pretty far past that. I’m now wondering if I’m only a month or two away (and could still nab the offer before it expires!) but it seems that info isn’t well known… ty! 🙂
