Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Gold status renewed again …. not sure how

  • 148 posts

Just noticed on the app that my gold status has been renewed for 2024 despite not having qualified in any way (no Amex Platinum, didn’t hit any qualification targets). Can’t complain!

You need to be careful ….. unless it clearly says ‘you have retained Gold’ or similar then be wary until 1st March.

Exact words are “great news you are keeping your gold status in 2024”

    Me too.

I got status because I had the Amex Platinum card in 2018, and it just keeps rolling over. Slightly concerned about even posting this in case it breaks the magic spell!

Got the same congratulations you’re keeping your Diamond in 2024 but I think that’s just because I qualified for the stay once promo they had early last year and status lasts for all of that year and the next?

I had a pop up to let me know I will be dropping to gold from diamond as I did not stay/spend enough to keep my status..

Hey ho, was good whilst it lasted but the extra incremental benefits of Diamond over Gold was just not worth worth chasing in 2023.

I should retain gold long term thanks to my Hilton Card and that’s enough TBH.

“great news! You’re keeping your Gold status in 2024.”

Didn’t stay once in 2023. Gold via Platinum 60,000 point SUB.

My OH also has this message in the app – he last held a Plat Amex in Dec 2022.

I’ve got it as well but was expecting it via HH Visa spend.

“Heads up! Your Honors status is changing. Based on your activity from last year, your status will change to Gold April 1.”

Yep same message for me too but down to my Hilton Honors Barclaycard.

Ditto – retained gold although I only had enough nights to qualify for silver. Looks like Hilton have hired IHGs IT staff.

All I got was “we’ve updated your status” – no mention that it was staying at silver, nothing.

Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum but long time lurker! Only been able to seriously attain status etc since October due to various things I won’t bore everyone with!

Would love to take credit, but it sort of automagically happened!!

@davefl That makes sense, I do have a WordPress site.

Just checked my app and my diamond status has been renewed for 2024. No idea how as I only had six nights last year and I am carrying status from cheap covid stays back in 2020.

Bit of plus and negative this one, expected to lose diamond so all my booked 2024 stays are with other brands. Now I have it still I may need to re-reseach the hotels in destinations.

I had similar, only 5 nights last year. Either it’s a glitch that will reset itself in March or it’s a welcome surprise.

Hypothetical question: say you are gold, and you make a 5 night booking on points (1 night free). You then drop down to silver or whatever before the date of your stay. Your free night is still ‘honored’ right?
Not that it should impact anyone here, but if that is the case then I suppose an expiring gold member should try and make whatever points bookings they need later in the year ASAP?

That logic sounds sensible. In fact, the free breakfasts make using up points before the status drop worthwhile too.

Always worth checking that you/your spouse doesn’t have access to a corporate Hilton elite status offer. For spring 2024, the corporate offer is:
    – automatic Gold status
    – retain Gold with 6 nights by 29 April
    – move up to Diamond with 12 nights by 29 April
    – if under 6 nights, fall to Silver from 30 April

Following accident and illness and much reduced travel, I have retained Gold until now from Barclaycard Visa card expenditure (I think), having previously qualified conventionally. Now I have the Silver message.

Does anybody know for sure whether the card spend route to Gold has finished? Thanks

From the HH Visa? Still seems to be working for me. I assume it would be a significant change to the Ts & Cs otherwise.
