Flying tomorrow to Gran Canaria, first time out of the Uk since December 2019!
Which lounge is the best in T5 (not sure which gate flight departs from) – is it the North or South lounge or is the Plaza lounge any good (Amex Platinum cardholder).
Thanks
Based on today’s experience, you won’t get a first class experience in the BA F lounge in T5. I’m looking at multiple tables that have been left uncleaned for 30 mins or more, and food deliveries are taking 15 minutes – pretty disgraceful, really.
Was at Plaza Premium yesterday at 6.15am. Although took 15 mins to get in, lounge was pretty quiet. But what an odd lounge! Great if you are a single traveller wanting to be cocooned in a small booth but for two of us nowhere to really sit together other than at a table. The sofa/chair spaces were taken – one area by a couple taking chairs for six drinking wine and beer. I note the alcohol because it never fails to amaze me that wine becomes a breakfast drink at an airport. Champagne maybe !
Breakfast offering dire in my opinion with little healthy options.

Sounds pretty standard for a BA F lounge.
@njb, I think it’s a local bye-law (and a cultural norm) that you have to drink lager at breakfast time at a northern airport. I personally prefer Champagne with my bacon roll, but then I’ve always been considered to be a bit of a softy liberal in these parts!
@GaryE Which lounge did you use in the end? Im there on Monday evening.

We used the Galleries South Lounge – wasn’t the best experience! We were there from about 9am to 10am – had to use the QR code for the menu and it was pretty basic. Probably in hindsight might have tried the Plaza Lounge as it is meant to be quieter.
