I’m hoping to use this lounge for first time this weekend.
Is it normally busy from 2pm to 5pm?
Family of 4 with two Plats (1 main and 1 additional cardholder)
Any tips hints? Any chance of that dreaded “we’re full” on arrival?
Expect to be in a queue for a long time
I’m flying out of LHR next month via Virgin Atlantic UC. I did want to stop by the Amex lounge either before or after the clubhouse just to see it for the first time.
I just don’t think I can visit 2 lounges in one day can I?
Why wouldn’t you be able to? For a start Virgin Atlantic and American Express are two separate companies. And lounge hopping is a well documented hobby for HFP readers – doing the full circuit of T3 lounges that their status, ticket type or card membership will afford them. So in summary – yes, if you want to and have time to visit the Centurion lounge as well as the Clubhouse you’re totally free to.
I’ve done three lounges in one day! Both times I’ve used the Centurion lounge in the last few months with no queue but they can be very strict on the 3 hour rule.
I did all 4 star lounges in T2 in one day… and 6 lounges in BKK when I had an 8 hour transit and couldn’t be bothered to go out
I do not think I have ever been at that time (several times early morning and few times from around 5pm onwards) but I have visited the Centurion Lounge as a family of 5 several times now and never found it anywhere close to busy and thus no sight of a queue. I may have been extremely lucky but that has been my honest experience.
Food has also so far being extremely good as are the drinks options, albeit no champagne but French sparkling wines (I think on my first visit I was served proper champagne but now is definitely not the case).
In terms of tips, if your kids are still young enough, do ask at the receptions if you can get the colouring set, my girls loves it and now are so used to it that they ask directly whilst we are still presenting our cards
My experiences are as @luca’s: never busy; helpful staff; great food.
So it’s common! Hurrah! I did not know this as I usually just stick to one lounge and call it a day lol.
Thank you all.
Update. Due to Uber issues and long check in lines, I only got to spend 20 mins in the lounge. It was great. Excellent staff and Delish food
No wait time to enter Lounge about 75pc full
My flight to Calgary is delayed until 5:15 PM this afternoon, scheduled departure was 2:50 PM. Can I access the lounge 3 hours before the scheduled departure time or the new delayed departure time?
Can you get into the lounge without a physical card? For example, by showing it in your phones virtual wallet.
Many thanks

You can generate a QR code for entry but it looks like that’s only available in the Amex US app, not UK.
