Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Heathrow to Tampa

  • 20 posts

We usually fly BA business class Gatwick to Orlando but are tired of climbing over people’s legs so have booked Virgin Upper Class Heathrow to Tampa. I see our aircraft is
Airbus A330-300 Not the A330neo that Rhys reviewed in November 2022. Should we be disappointed? Grateful for any insight. Thank you.

They’re the “herringbone” seats in a 1-1-1 configuration. I’ve never particularly liked them personally. But they are at least all aisle access, good soft product and of course you’ve got the Upper Class wing + Clubhouse at LHR which is a step up from LGW for sure

I don’t like the flip-over seat. Why not in future consider changing in MIA or even JFK. Coming back I’d def opt for MIA as the JFK flights don’t leave time for good sleep.

    Thank you both for responding.
My husband is disabled, so changing planes is difficult.
But thank you again for your insight and advice.
    Looking forward to The Clubhouse

It isn’t unheard of to get a kit change on TPA to the 339, but you could also look at MCO which regularly sees 35K operation on certain flights (usually one departure gets the 333, and the other gets the 35K).

TPA to MCO is about 90mins by car.

I wouldn’t like to rely on a connection with Miami. Flights are often delayed due to storms and the drive is never a nice one.

I would definitely rather the herringbone seat direct than thinking about connections.
