Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club HELP – 2-4-1 Voucher | Aer Lingus seats available

  • 3 posts

Hi all – wanting to test my sanity.

Want to use 2-4-1 voucher to fly from Shannon to Boston (SNN – BOS). When I search reward seat availability for my wife, my lap infant and myself in BA Reward flight saver and AerClub I can see business class seats available totalling 252000 Avios + £ 533.10 in taxes and charges.

However when I try to then use the 2-4-1 voucher these flights do not appear for me. Is this normal?

I tried calling the CS number twice, and the first agent could book it for the correct amount of Avios – but almost £3k in taxes?? How is this correct.

The second agent failed to make any booking whatsoever. Where am I going wrong? Any insight greatly welcomed.

BA offer a selection of Avios + FTCs (fees, charges and taxes) pricing. Say 10,000 Avios + £1000 FTCs or 50,000 Avios + £200 FTCs. It sounds like the phone agent is pricing up from the most cash/least Avios combo.

The reason the ‘taxes’ are changing is because they’re more accurately described as airline-determined fees as well as charges and taxes. So BA pulls a figure out of a tombola.

The Amex 2-4-1 voucher doesn’t cover Business Class redemptions – only World Traveller

The voucher from the BAPP Amex can be used on all cabins, the one generated by the free card only for economy redemptions.

The voucher of course covers business class. It just seems weird the flights disappear from the website when I select to apply the voucher – but otherwise can book it as a normal Avios redemption.

Some progress made – BA have held the seats for me, but now have to get a pricing team to establish the taxes fees and charges. Surely this should be the same as what I am seeing when I don’t apply the voucher? Anybody else have this experience?

A friend of mine had this same issue, economy Aer Lingus avios flights showing without the voucher but they could not be booked using the BA voucher and the BA call centre said they didn’t know why and there was nothing that could be done.
