Hi,
Is anyone with a companions voucher able to check availability for me for jnb – lhr in any class on any day from 21-25 August. I have a booking but am looking to change for a different date.
Thanks
Hi David, what do you need? On SeatSpy I see no seats in August and neither do I see anything using BA’s website (and using my voucher as I look for 2 I suppose)
I assume he’s asking if anyone with the newer style 241 vouchers can check if they are seeing the extra availability that can’t be seen on seatspy for example.
21 August – J in BA54 (4 seats) and BA56 (3 seats)
22 August- J in BA54 (6 seats)
That’s your lot.
It’s weird – I hadn’t noticed this before but you don’t see the extra seats on the availability calendar. You have to search each day individually to get the message saying extra seats have been made available. BA’s IT seriously licks bag.

That’s nuts.
– I checked seatspy. Nothing
– then I went to BA’s website where I have a new style voucher and tried to help looking for seats starting with the 20th of August. The search engine returned an error and displayed a calendar showing noting until September
– I now looked on my phone for the 21st August and you have 4 and 3 seats in two different flights that day (nothing on the rest that I can see)
Almost as if BA was making this harder than it should be 🤔
You need to search for the 22nd from scratch. Then you should see the six seats.
In other news, BA54 on the 21st is now showing six seats.

Oh wow. Thank you for this. Basically means:
– seat soy can be very wrong
– dates have to be checked one by one from scratch to show availability 🤷

Thanks froggee, that is very helpful. I’m surprised it is so dynamic, but I guess if it is somehow linked to revenue classes then that makes sense.
If I may impose on you one more time, can you please check lhr to jnb on Aug 8 or 9.
Thank you
8 Aug is an economy fest. 3 on BA55 and 5 on BA57. Nothing in J.
And nothing in the 9th.
@yonasl – SeatSpy isn’t wrong. It is right for standard BA Avios availability. It has no means to check specifically for the extra seats the new BA Amex offers. This is no different to it having no means of checking the extra seats you can see as a gold card holder.

Thanks! I thought the voucher allowed you to find extra seats but there had to be seats to start with (so maybe you see 1 but 2 are available if you use the voucher). I didn’t know you could go from 0 to 6!
