Help with travelling with hand baggage only on International flight

Hi

First time travelling with hand baggage only and flying from MIA tomorrow. No bags to check in. Do I still need to present myself at check in before going through security with my boarding pass in wallet so they can check my passport? I know they do this just before boarding. MIA check in sometimes slow to open and I have a long time hanging around. Thanks

No you can check in online and go through security, you will need to passport check at the gate as the BA lounge is shut in Miami

Thanks. I use the AA lounge can they do the passport check there? I guess I’m wondering if
I haven’t presented myself til just before boarding they think I’m a no show and bump me!

You may have your name called out before boarding starts, if they’re doing an identity docs check. If you’re not there to hear it, the check will just be done when boarding begins instead. Nothing to worry about.
