Just wondering if there is any way of ordering drinks from the High Life Cafe when travelling in CE? Ideally without paying extra for it. BA don’t seem to offer JD or similar in CE these days but it is available for pre order in ET.

JD isn’t offered in Club Europe. Yeah you can pre order online and it should be brought to you. Or ask the cabin crew if you want to buy on board.

Just ask the cabin crew, but you will need to pay for it as the stock/payments need to tally. I often get free drinks when travelling economy, and they always come from the CE bar.

The irony is they used to offer JD in Club Europe…then I think Señor Slasher Cruz got rid of it, along with the Glenlivet.

Why they need 3 types of gin and only 1 whisky…

Interesting – I asked if they could get some from economy last time and they said they couldn’t as they have just the same stuff as they do in CE. I guess I’ll just have to keep trying…

They have more recently used Bulleit bourbon but seem to have dropped this as well (though it still seems to be in the Heathrow lounges).

And as far as I’m aware, happy to be corrected but on CW no brandy whatsoever? This happened within the last year I think so can’t blame Cruz for that!

Despite Doyle’s platitudes of being a premium airline, the cost cutters seem to still be at it!

are we talking about shorthaul or no?
they absolutely do have JD in the buy-on-board bar. maybe you need to pre order it in case they run out. having said that, if you have the foresight to pre order you might as well just chuck a couple of miniatures in your personal item before you leave home.

    Yes – short haul.
OK interesting, I guess I’ll just have to keep asking and see what happens!

Well of course that would be illegal… 🤔 But a good solution. As long as you’re not chugging down a whole bottle no-one will blink.

As always with CE it depends on the crew. I once wanted some Johnnie walker black label close to landing and the crew mentioned they had already closed up the club bar but happily went to the economy section without me asking and gave me a Johnnie walker red label. granted wasn’t very nice on the rocks but a lovely gesture. So you may or may not be able to!

I find it strange you can’t buy from the on board menu if you are in CE, only in ET. I think it’s because they don’t have a means of taking payment at the front of the plane.

They have some very nice gluten free biscuits to buy on board….but not if you are in CE. You have to go with what they stock for the front of the plane. However, as above, it depends on the crew. On my last flight they went and got them from the trolley on ET anyway for me but didn’t charge.

@Peter K : You can absolutely buy from Highlife. If they are busy in CE just wander down to the back.

No one is going to cart you off to jail for drinking a few of your own minitures in CE

Anyway lots of replies in this thread but the most important bit was “ideally without paying” the answer is no you must pay for the buy in board menu items.

I have never had an issue buying food from the Highlife menu when travelling in CE. I have a 6ft 6in son with hollow legs so even lounge and meal on board is not sufficient for him on longer European flights.

Well by way of an update, when I asked the crew for it on Friday they said they didn’t have any so I asked them if they could get some from economy. They came back shortly afterwards saying that unfortunately none had been loaded…

Certainly no cognac any more: used to be my post-meal tradition along with a coffee (in part to
give the coffee some flavour ;o)
Was told last time it had been dropped completely.

You wouldn’t get this on Ryanair – they’d have BAGS of the stuff 🤣

Oh yes. JD and coke very popular – the fizzy kind, of course, though I’m sure there are all sorts of shenanigans in Puerto Banús. So I keep reading in Sur news, anyway!

Is that coke with popping candy??? Only in Puerto Banus. ☺ Now that the 100ml rule is/might be removed I need a new purpose for those 100ml bottles. Definitely useful for filling up on JD and Grey Goose from the lounge!

(Note: observational comedy, not a suggestion!)
