I am trying to search for some reward stays. I know if you book a 5 night stay you pay for just 4 however whenever I toggle between 4 and 5 nights for various properties the nightly rate stays the same ie. 4 nights is 80,000 and 5 nights is 100,000. I seem to remember you used to be able to see a breakdown or the points per night if you clicked “rate detail” but this doesn’t seem to happen it just gives me a total for the booking still with no night free.
I have tried the app and the website. Could it be because I don’t have enough points in the account as they are sitting with Amex until i decide what I’m doing. Im not sure this is the case because I never have many Hilton points sitting so not sure how I saw the reduction before.

Yes, you need Silver status or higher. It’s not available to everyone. This restriction is often not mentioned because virtually everyone has some sort of status via Amex Plat, a status challenge etc.
I’m gold from Amex platinum although I did cancel platinum I was extended this year for Hilton unexpectedly

It could be the number of points for the room per night. Try checking each night individually.
I was going to book a room a few weeks ago and it said 50000* a night (*a rate change in the stay). Total 3 nights was nearly 200k.
I checked and first night was 50k, the other two were over 70k points each.
Only way to check I could find was to check each night on it’s own.
So if the last night of your 5 for 4 was 40k points then it could work out at 100k total including one night free.

It might well have been this although I thought I checked for standard room because I just did a dummy run on one local to me and it worked

IIRC you need to click through to the payment page before you can see the full breakdown per night. I think it took me a bit of trial and error to work this out!
