Hilton – can the original booker transfer the room booking to a friend?

QQ re Hilton please. A friend booked a double room at the Hilton at Gatwick for himself and his partner but can longer make use of it due to illness and it’s non-refundable/no date changes. Coincidentally it’s booked on a date when a mutual friend could use the room the night before a flight so it would be a shame to waste the booking when the room will be empty. Mine (and my friend the booker’s) question is, is he able to transfer use of the room to our friend “officially” by informing the Hilton of guest changes, or will they not allow this? Alternatively, can our friend just pretend to be the booker or the booker’s guest? Any advice/experience with this sort of thing much appreciated! I haven’t stayed in a Hilton for years so have no idea of how strict they are!

You can add named guests in the booking and they can check in themselves.
Though Hilton can be incredibly accommodating about changing bookings if you ask nicely.
Yes I’ve booked loads of rooms for other people by just having them as my partner on the room booking. Bonus of doing it that way is that you still get the points/nights credit. A couple of hotel chains must think I have an “interesting” personal life 🤣.
Thanks both! I will investigate the named guests function. I believe my friend had already named his partner as his guest – any ideas if there’s the function to change your named guest before check in?
Yes, use the edit facility in the booking.
