Hilton Cardiff – renovation work, exec lounge?

I don’t want to miss out on the double night credit and Plat cashback so I’ll be staying at Hilton when I need to be in Cardiff in a few weeks.
Booking page mentions renovation work. Any idea what to expect?

I’m diamond, how is the exec lounge there?

This was the lounge when I visited in May:

I’m sat at a secluded table by the entrance. There are some sofas on the left. Nice view towards the castle which is out the left of the windows. Area on the right is where you’ll find the cakes/chicken wings/crisps/fruit. Think there’s some alcohol there too but didn’t pay attention. Soft drinks in the fridge you can see.

We stayed a couple of weeks ago. The main restaurant was totally closed off, so breakfast was a temporary set up, but still fine. If I recall correctly, the renovation work is carrying for quite a while in stages, so by the time you stay the restaurant may have been finished and they’ll be working on another section of the hotel.

The Exec. Lounge is fine, but not somewhere I’d choose to spend a lot of time. The cake selection was pretty good, but I was out of there before the proper food offering was brought out. Beer was just Heineken, but locked away until 6pm and that’s when the wine would have come out as well.
