I applied for the Hilton Debit Card on Wednesday morning at 7:30am following the article here on H4P regarding the 30k point welcome bonus points offer which was due to end on Thursday 14th August. I took a photo of my passport using the Currensea app and then scanned the chip. The app said someone from their team would review the application and they will be in touch within 2 working days.
The following day I received an email from them saying:
Thank you for submitting your ID document, I am afraid that this hasn’t been accepted.
Please take another photo of the ID document using the below link..
So I did this and on Friday I received an email saying…
Thank you for uploading your ID document, I can confirm it has been successfully verified.
To complete the sign-up journey and order your card, log in via the mobile app using your email address and the password you created.
So I proceeded but noticed there was no longer any mention of 30k points, only 10k. So emailed them asking to confirm I would receive the 30k points if I spend £2500 within the first 6 months. They replied saying….
The welcome bonus of 30,000 points was eligible for customers that signed up for the Hilton Honors Plus debit card within the limited time offer time frame. Unfortunately, as you did not select the Hilton Honors Plus debit card plan prior to the limited time welcome bonus offer ending, will not be eligible for the 30,000 points welcome bonus.
So it turns out my application was a complete waste of time despite the fact I applied and provided my passport before the end of the offer! Has anyone else experienced the same? Very disappointing customer service.
