According to the Hilton website, you are awarded 10 points per £1 spent on a stay.
I recently had to stay at a Hampton by Hilton and was awarded 5738 points and I cannot figure out why.
The room rate Inc tax was only £75!
So that would be 750 points (less if tax is excluded).
I get 250 points as a Gold Myway benefit.
80% bonus on points as Hilton Gold
And 1000 points for their summer promotion.
None of the above comes close to 5738 points.
I don’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth but is the initial 10 points per £1 wrong?
Is there a summer bonus on currently? I noticed something on the website the other day but didn’t read it properly as my only Hilton stay this summer is a 5-night redemption.
The summer promotion I qualified for is 1000 points per stay

No, it’s 10 points per US Dollar (at whatever conversion rate they use) after taxes have been deducted.
So a room rate of £62.50 before VAT would get you 1.33*10*63 = 838 base points (rounding up)
+1000
+250
+(80% of 838) is 670
So total should have been 2758.
Don’t look a golden gift horse in the mouth.
The website should give you a full breakdown of how the points were calculated. The app doesn’t.

This is absolutely spot on… and no gift horse! Thanks (see my next reply!)

Thank you, didn’t think of checking the website!
Base was 2758 points as mentioned above, plus another promotion called “Back for 3000 Points” which I had no idea I had registered for.
That promo is sporadically targeted at those whom Hilton has detected a decrease in stays.
