Hi, we are looking for a local wedding venue and have several Hiltons in the mix. My partner who is a regular HFP reader decided we should maximise our points haul from our wedding if at all possible. Who said romance is dead! So, can we earn points for venue booking, wedding lunch etc etc? I assume we will be able to book 6 hotel rooms via our diamond and gold Hilton status for guests and get the points from them. Any thoughts on how to maximise our points haul would be really helpful?
can you ask the hotel to bill everything to your room? the way they bill for example restaurant check to your room.
also, be careful, the points from the rooms go to the guests, not to the bill payer.
I paid few times for my mom’s room, she got the points. And then, of course, I asked her to transfer them to me 🙂
Make sure your “guests” would do that, too. Or create a Hilton account for them, and you do the transfer later.As a diamond, you can gift Gold for a year. If you do that for some, they can get more points, which means you get more points.
Firstly, have you checked with any of the hotels about what spend will qualify? Room bookings should qualify (unless they are offering a special rate for weddings) but if they are using outside caterers, for example, this might have to be paid separately. Some businesses only accept bank transfers for large payments as well. Worth checking Hilton’s general Ts and Cs as well – I paid $500 for a room upgrade at an IHG hotel last week, for example, but only found out when the expected points didn’t post that upgrades don’t qualify!

@NorthernLass I did get points for cash upgrade before.Large hotel chains, including Hilton, have reward programs for event planners. I don’t know whether you’d qualify if you’re only organising a one-off wedding but worth a look.

I didn’t get points for upgrading at the IC BOS last week – though I did get 2k points as a “goodwill” gesture because I wasn’t aware of the policy, according to IHG CS.Large hotel chains, including Hilton, have reward programs for event planners. This. I have previously booked an event at Kimpton Manchester (what was The Principal). A meeting room and twenty bedrooms got me a suite upgrade, triple points on my stay, sum of all other points accrued on room doubled and added to my account and some sort of IHG elite status added to my account in addition to Spire.
