I’m planning a road trip in Germany and notice lots of Holiday Inns rebadged as ‘the niu’ is this just a Holiday inn, still part of IHG?
I’ve never seen that brand anywhere else
I’ll be at the Cologne one in April also as part of a road trip.
There’s one in Manchester. I thought it was fine. It’s sort of between HIX and HI. The Manchester one is one Metrolink stop north of Victoria station and pretty good value. I think all rooms are basically the same so nothing to upgrade to, but free breakfast for diamonds.
I think they’re very variable. Worth some posts here about people’s experiences.
The reviews are indeed variable, I had one booked for Mainz booked but cancelled it based on the reviews. Staying at the Bellevue Rheinhotel for those two nights instead.
still part of IHG?
Yes part of IHG and so earn nights / points and use points to book.
They joined IHG last year https://www.ihgplc.com/en/news-and-media/news-releases/2024/ihg-hotels-resorts-and-novum-hospitality-open-1st-holiday-inn-the-niu-hotel-in-germany
Whether you should or not is a different matter. I’ve seen comments on FT about hard beds.
