Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Holiday suggestions for Companion Vouchers (BA Premium Plus) and 250k Avios?

    Hello,

I am completely new to Avios and Companion Vouchers but my husband and I are keen to plan a holiday with 4-6 month old next year and I’m struggling to find anywhere for a long haul trip with return flights available between Jan-Mar 2026. Please forgive me for my ignorance and perhaps relying on those more experienced but I’d really appreciate any suggestions/advice anyone can share. We are flexible on where we travel – somewhere with good weather that is safe for a baby. We didn’t quite anticipate how quickly the popular routes get booked up and originally hoped to go to SA or possibly Thailand but can’t find any flights to Cape Town or Singapore. We would like to avoid Dubai/Caribbean but open to pretty much anywhere else!

I’ve tried researching and going backwards and forwards on BA but thought perhaps this would be the best place for some travel savvy suggestions.

    Thanks so much 🙂

You would benefit from reading Rob’s guides to using avios and the 241 in the articles section, as well as the relevant threads on here.

There will be availability on some decent routes during your dates but as you are now aware, the most popular seats get snapped up as soon as they’re released.

A helpful tool for BA availability is “Where can I go” on SeatSpy, which shows all availability between specified dates; you might want to consider a subscription.

Also remember that the voucher can be used on Iberia and Aer Lingus, though they don’t generally release as many seats as BA.

You can also book seats to hub destinations with lots of connections to places you’d like to visit then get separate connecting flights – say Dubai for the Indian Ocean or Miami for South America.

Make the most of it before baby goes to school!!

If you were considering Thailand try Langkawi via KUL. There seems to be PE availability with the odd CW. It is also only a short hop to Singapore. The Datai in Langkawi is superb

The world is quite literally your oyster!

Would suggest going Club World which is where you’re going to get the most bang for your voucher buck. If flexible try and go off peak (you can find the Avios needed for any destination on peak and off peak days here and Seatspy is your friend to find both availability and peak/off peak days for your intended destinations (it might be worth buying a subscription for a month to find Avios availability).

In terms of destinations, especially if thinking of maximising your Avios in terms of time/distance (and often price) flown, you could do a lot worse than West Coast of America, any destination in India, or South America e.g. Argentina (all of which tend to have decent availability). I have a soft spot for India myself; flying in to Delhi and doing the Golden Triangle will be a once in a lifetime experience. And indeed, if you wanted to fly and flop, you could do a lot worse than Langkawi.

Both Cape Town and Singapore tend to book up fast as does Japan so you’ll typically need to book 355 days ahead unless some extra availability happens to drop. |Have fun and bon voyage!

Problem is getting something in Q1 of 2025 now. Most remaining availability is to places OP wants to avoid.

SeatSpy is showing 2 x CW to CPT on Feb 4th. Obviously you need to find a way to get back as well!

*Though having checked on BA, it now looks as though someone snapped them up again …

Lots of availability to DEL, BOM, LAX, SFO still showing for Q1 2026.

Also consider flying Qatar – you won’t benefit from the 2-4-1, but might find that the rates are very appealing even without it.
