Hello
Has anyone stayed at the Peninsula HKG at all recently ? Would you recommend ?
What’s breakfast and afternoon tea like ? Virtuoso rate includes credit and breakfast (they are slightly cheaper than emyr)
Chose Mandarin Oriental over Peninsula last year. Fabulous stay. Upgraded room, Exec lounge best ever experienced.
Disappointing afternoon tea at Peninsula. Table not set, service terrible. It was meant to be a final treat before heading to airport for late flight. Maybe we were just unlucky.

As above, for HK at least, Mandarin over Peninsula. In either case I would be amazed if you can’t get a rate and inclusions significantly better than Virtuoso (or any agent rate) by contacting the hotel directly.
As above, I would go to the Mandarin. Just stayed there for a week last month. I also prefer to be in Central rather than TST.
Thanks , we wanted to stay at the landmark MO but it’s closed and the other Mandarin looks like it hasn’t had a refurb for a while (apologises if incorrect)
Virtuoso gives free breakfast and usd 100 credit & toon upgrade and early + late check out for the same price as the prepaid room only rate direct with the hotel (that comes with the early & late check out but no credit / upgrade/ breakfast) if we do stick with peninsula will they match the virtuoso offer ?
The MO HKG are the rooms dated ???
@hugo r – I would expect them to beat the Virtuoso offer by a country mile and confirm several category upgrade!
We had a lovely room at MO. High floor ,huge almost floor length window, view of harbour and Square( can’t remember name), Very comfy bed, lots of lovely amenities and wee touches. I’d stay there again in a heartbeat! Exec lounge an oasis of calm and lovely food and drink offerings. Afternoon tea was far nicer than Peninsula . The staff were exceptional both in Lounge and concierge services . We came off a cruise ship and were met by MO car , and the reception staff were on the steps of the hotel to welcome us take us to our room and book us in. Portering staff whisked the luggage away. This was at 9.30 am!! ( and it was cheaper than the Peninsula !)
It a shame that the Landmark MO is being refurbished during your stay, I preferred the rooms and f&b there over the MO although the harbour views were good at the latter.
Upper House is well regarded on flyertalk luxury hotel forum, but I haven’t stayed there.
If you do go to MO I would recommend using the f&b credit in Amber in the Landmark (which I understand remains open).
