Morning, I have an overnight stopover at Heathrow with flight late next day, so thinking of staying overnight in London and using the Elizabeth Line. Any Hotel recommendations close to a station, as will have luggage?
Thanks
Is the plan to spend the day in London? I’m just thinking you might be better staying at a LHR hotel so you can leave the luggage there instead of taking it on the train. Some of the airport hotels are quite reasonable at the moment and probably cheaper than central London.
LHR hotels are probably cheaper, i have had some good deals. But an early evening arrival into LHR and then into London will give more time in London. Only works of course if I can find a hotel with easy access from a Lizzy line station.
Any clues at all on budget or hotel type? I mean at the upper end, Claridges is 2 minutes from Bond St while at the sleep-for-cheap end there’s a Zedwell round the corner from Tottenham Court Rd.
If you really want to prioritise close to Lizzie rather than central London and want to use points then how about Stratford? Here’s a recently HfP reviewed possibility:
Personally, being local to Stratford, I would avoid staying there if you’ve lots of luggage as you have to go down and the back up to get out of the station from the Lizzy line, then battle the crowds at Westfield to get to your hotel.
Worth considering the Hilton at London Paddington, not particularly glamorous but you can’t beat the location and it’s very easy to get down to the Lizzy line platforms or into town/to heathrow from there. It’s also a short stroll down to Hyde Park to enjoy some greenery.
For a budget option, there’s a Premier Inn in Hayes, 5mins walk from Hayes and Harlington Station. Cheap, cheerful and 1 stop from Heathrow.
Why restrict yourself to being X yards from a Lizzie station ?
Consider leaving your bags into left luggage at the excess baggage stores at Heathrow (all terminals have them) or Paddington.
It’s around £20 / bag for 24 hours then you won’t have to lug them anywhere,
Hazlitt’s – a perfect, stylish boutique hotel just 4 minutes walk from Tottenham Court Road, in the heart of Soho and right next to the shopping districts. 4.7 rating on Google says it all.
If you want a chain hotel, the Andaz is right by Liverpool Street Station, but that’s a lousy spot for leisure travellers and the hotel is much too corporate for my taste. Others on HfP have recommended it before, though, so I mention it. I’d you really want to stay on that part of town, Hazlitt’s sister hotel, Batty Langley’s, is a joy.
The Canary Wharf Marriott is a few metres walk from the Canary Wharf Lizzie line station, and a Tribe, Novotel and Hilton all within a five minute walk. The Novotel has a decent rooftop bar/restaurant too. TO be honest though, if you want to be on the Lizzie line, I would advise you to limit yourself to west of Whitechapel to avoid the faff of getting on the wrong line! The Marriott Grosvenor Sq is next to Bond St station and the Edition is next to Tottenham Court Road if you want to be central.
