Hi All,
We are looking at planning a short 4 night stay in Lanzarote during October 2025, for a relaxing beach holiday for a change.
We have never visited the island before so would like some help with hotel recommendations.
Currently we like the Barcelo, Melia and H10 hotels. We are just a couple (no children), so ideally would like an adult only hotel but are open to suggestions based on HFP readers previous stays.
Our only requisite is that the hotel is near a beach (15 minute walk away is okay) and near some restaurants.
Any suggestions will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Quite a long flight for just 4 nights
Can’t advise on the specific hotels, but being near a beach will probably mean picking one of the resort towns, either PDC, Playa Blanca or Teguise, or the capital Arrecife, so I’d decide where I wanted to be based first.
The resorts certainly won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, particularly on a site for discerning travelers such as this, but even within a ‘Full English/beer for €1’ type of place such as PDC there are a few decent restaurants and bars to be found.
Hyatt has a couple of high-end resorts in Lanzarote, at least one of which is adults-only. 4 days isn’t very long for a beach break – be aware as well that flights can get disrupted due to high winds, especially in autumn and winter.
*Avoid October half term as well, and there will be far fewer children around generally!
Thanks both for your suggestions.
@NorthernLass we are now looking to extend to 7 days.
Prices currently are fairly high, despite looking to book so far in advance. Surprisingly BA has come in somewhat cheaper, especially when doing it as a package holiday.
We also looked at Gran Canaria but prices are fairly similar so don’t really see the evening going there.
We’ll check out the Hyatts based on your suggestion.
We are also there for 10 days in October – in addition to our week in an apartment I booked a really good value BAH, with 3 nights in a 5* hotel in Arrecife and a car for the duration for about £500.
I booked very cheap flights from MAN on Iberia via Madrid as I get free seat selection, checked bags and lounge access with BAEC status, which made it a much better deal than one of the LCCs!
There’s a big move back towards preserving the environment on the island so hopefully this is starting to show for the visitor experience. If you like snorkeling, I found it the best I’ve ever done outside the Caribbean.
We are a couple with no kids and have stayed at both Hyatt resorts a few times. Secrets is adult only and Puerto Calero is peaceful with nice restaurants at the harbour so ideal for a relaxing break. It’s on the coast but there isn’t really a sandy beach. Dreams is a family hotel, though when we stayed outside of school holidays there weren’t any kids there apart from a few babies. It’s next to Playa Dorada which is a sandy beach. Playa Blanca has a bit more going on than Puerto Calero and has good bus connections if you want to explore without a car.
We’ve also stayed at H10 White Suites which is close to Playa Dorada and a decent adult only hotel. My parents stayed there last month and enjoyed it.
We stayed at Barceló in Costa Teguise and don’t recommend the hotel or Costa Teguise. There is a new Barceló in Playa Blanca which is next door to Dreams. I haven’t stayed there but it looks good and they have an adult only section.
Thank you all again for your contributions.
@NorthernLass we have managed to get a fairly decent deal with BAH, flying from LGW the week before half term. This will be hopefully somewhat relaxing compared to our Miami and Orlando trip in May. We will also have a look at some local excursion companies, is there anyone in particular you can recommend?
@Birdy thanks for the hotel suggestions. We have opted for Dreams, but are booking the week before half term so hopefully it will be somewhat quiet then.
In order to try and steer clear of children, we opted for a Preferred Club room so at least we have our own dedicated pool and dedicated relaxation areas.
Does anyone have any local restaurant recommendations for Playa Blanca/Playa Dorada? We are not that fussy when it comes to food, so all suggestions will be welcomed.
In Spain we don’t really do organised excursions because it’s so easy to drive everywhere to our own timetable or use public transport. Lanzarote is a great place to drive because outside the towns and resorts the roads are really quiet and you can feel quite alone.
I would think the hotel would be able to help with anything you wanted to do though. A trip through the volcanic landscape and to the green lake is quite other-worldly. We haven’t been to La Graciosa yet but planning to do that this time. There’s a nice mirador with a restaurant up at that end of the island with amazing views of La Graciosa and the other smaller islets.
*We’ll be there Oct 6th to 16th, as long as Iberia don’t do too much more messing around with our flights, then back to Madrid for a week touring the battle sites of the Peninsula War!
You can do a day trip to Fuerteventura as well from Playa Blanca, if that interests you. The islands are quite near one another. Or there’s a smaller island between the two called Los Lobos which makes for a nice boat trip. I think we’ve just turned up and paid for the ferry when we’ve done this but there are organised tours as well.
