Trying to book a couple of nights in Mallorca later this month
Have redeemed £70 Tesco Clubcard vouchers for £210 Hotels.com credit last night and got their email with the new longer code.
1 – Followed the link in the email they sent for eligible properties – top header has Tesco Clubcard logo showing
2 – Searched for hotels and found some that have Enter Coupon code: from Tesco showing in Green with a tick
3 – Choose a room (worth more than £210 without taxes) and click Pay Online and then go to the checkout area to enter the code
4 – Enter the code in the Apply a Coupon Code and get “Sorry, this code can only be used for a specific promotion”
Breakdown of costs
3 nights: £278.97
Taxes and fees: £27.87
City Tax: £4.16
Total £311.00
Then it has 2 bits underneath the costs
Due Now: £306.84
Due at Property: £4.16
Could it be due to the Due at Property part of the breakdown? Every single property has that showing and its obviously a tax which you cant pay using he voucher regardless. Anyone have any experience of this or similar – how did you resolve it..?
Paul.
After trying 4 times, it resolved itself on the 5th attempt.
For anyone having this issue in future, dont log into your hotels.com account on the checkout page before applying the voucher code.
I suspect it changes some parameter when you are logged in so it thinks you havent come via the tesco clubcard site links (despite still showing the clubcard banner at the top of the page)
Paul.
Sorry are you saying that you have to book these as a guest rather than logged in? Or do you mean log in before clicking through from Tesco?
I haven’t done this before but seems like the only thing left for me to use my tesco points.
I think the OP says apply the voucher then log-in.
Sorry, I wasnt clear in my follow up post as to what I did.
I tried 4 times to make the booking over the course of 14 hours or so but each time I logged in to the hotels.com account first then tried to apply the voucher and it failed.
The 5th time (after I posted here) I went through the whole workflow again but applied the voucher first (which was successfully applied), then logged into the hotels.com account afterwards.
It could be that it was due to some timing issue (does it need a delay after voucher generated by Tesco..?), maybe a website problem but the only thing I changed in my approach was the voucher first then logging in.
So no, doesnt need to be a guest user in my experience with this, but does need voucher applying first then logging in afterwards.. Mind you, this is just 1 datapoint to work from!
Paul
