I am starting a Virgin Cruise from Athens this evening. Having booked the I/C for 2 nights I noticed that their pool was closed and booked elsewhere. The awful cacophony of loud popular music made the pool area inhabitable at my alternative hotel and I was wondering if people know of hotels – any hotels, anywhere! – that do not play music by the pool. In this age of private headphones it feels such a shame that we are all subjected to these noises in the name of “atmosphere.” Thank you.
Have you considered booking a villa/serviced apartment with a private pool?
Any anywhere is a pretty large universe 😀 Narrow it down to type/location and you may get some even vaguely useful responses 😀
The vast majority of hotels with swimming pools I have stayed at do not have music at the pool.
Are the type of hotels you are choosing putting you at particular risk – are you unconsciously gravitating to those trying to have a young/stylish/hip/partying image; and might this need revising? Maybe “dull” business hotels might actually be what you are after…
It’s often pretty obvious when one might be of a more raucous, less desirable nature. Is the pool just a pool, or are there obvious warning signs like a swim-up bar, or the fact 95% of the pool is waist-deep and all the publicity shots look like Florida on Spring Break.
If you want quiet then hotels with slightly less impressive pools where it is not the main/central feature of a resort are likely to be better for you?
The gorgeous Delta Hotels Giardini Naxos on Sicily that I stayed at earlier this year has two pools, one was designated Adults Only. Not sure how quiet it was as I didn’t go to it, (preferred to just sit on my terrace overlooking the sea) but it was a pretty quiet resort.
