As above. Looking to do longhaul Business outbound and PE return. I know I need to ring them up to book this with a Barclays upgrade voucher. In theory the connecting domestic flight for outbound is “free”. What class is the return booked as given that PE doesn’t exist for domestic connections? Is it econ or business, and what is that supposed to do to the taxes and avios cost?
TIA
A cash PE long haul would be booked in to Y / Economy for the domestic connection, so if it’s nominally free I wouldn’t expect any implications for the reward cost.
Last time I booked for family USA-LHR-EDI on a proper Avios redemption they were in economy trans-Atlantic and it was the same price with domestic business as for domestic economy!
(Perhaps a couple of pounds more for the “free” domestic because of airport fees?)
It got all four lounge access at Heathrow!
I dunno is the answer. But I would be interested to know.
In theory, the domestic leg should go into Club Europe.
And I suspect, in theory, they may wish to charge you £12 for the domestic leg but this is not covered in Ts & Cs.
Can you try a dummy online booking one-way e.g. EDI-JFK upgrading from economy and see what it actually charges as that will be the answer? I think this is possible online.
The agents really struggle with the Barclays voucher so if you sound vaguely confident they can take your lead!
