Hi,
I currently have the Avios Barclaycard but my wife doesn’t ATM. Due to my poor admin I can’t remember whether she has ever had the card. We sometimes get a card, get the bonus and then cancel it.
Is there anyway of telling other than just calling them?
No other way that i have seen discussed. The card is not that old, you can probably find the launch post by Rob. Can you remember as far back as 2 years? That would be how long you need to go back without a card.
Start a spreadsheet that is my recommendation. or put calendar reminders in on when you are next eligible.
Many are bad at admin but you must have a search function on your email with a register email of some kind. Try that.

I believe for Barclaycard is 6 months to not had any barclaycard for the bonus
call them and find out is the best option or check your statements from the account

It is 6mths to reapply for the card. It is 24mths for the bonus.
Sign her up for Credit Karma (free) which will show her credit history. It will show if she has held a Barclaycard in the last 24 months, so that will do the trick unless she has held a Barclaycard that is not the avios card during that time, in which case you will be none the wiser.

That’s clever! Although helpful working out if you had a Barclaycard, I would be careful about using that as a source on the exact date you closed the account as closing with the bank vs the bank reporting to credit agency is two different things sometimes.
Maybe if you did see a Barclaycard look through the history of your BA account to see if you got any sign up bonus during the time you had the card to try and narrow it down. (not sure how far you can go back)

The date on which the credit agency gets notified will be significantly after the date on which the account was closed. If a date of closure/settlement is shown then it would always be prudent to allow an additional few weeks gap before applying again.
To not remember if she has even ever had the card though, surely you must have emails, statements, payments from a bank account to clear balances, perhaps even it appear in the app as a cancelled cara (like Amex), something etc..?! Have you looked for any of these things? If you want to play the churn game, you really need to keep at least a list or spreadsheet.
So if it’s >6 months since I cancelled the Barclays Avios Plus card, I should be eligible for a new sign up bonus?
So if it’s >6 months since I cancelled the Barclays Avios Plus card, I should be eligible for a new sign up bonus?
No! It’s six months to be able to open another Barclaycard account, but two years to wait for another SUB. They aren’t that thick and two years is already pretty generous.

Ok thanks for clarifying, makes sense.
Cancelled my Hilton Barclaycard card less than one year ago, confirmed with online chat that I was eligible for the Avios Plus sign-up bonus.
I’ve hit the spending target on that card and received the bonus.

Yep as mentioned. 6 months for new sign up. 24 months for SUB.
