Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club How do I know when my status expires?

  • 14 posts

This feels like a pretty stupid question, but I cannot work out when my Virgin Gold status will expire.

When I log into Flying Club, I am showing as Gold, with 0 tier points for this year (which is correct). However, it also says that “To remain a Gold member you will need to earn an additional 800 tier points by 31 July 2022”

Does this mean I am no longer Gold and the system just hasn’t fully updated yet? Or is there some kind of soft-landing/extension that I’m benefiting from at the end of my status?

I am planning a business flight to NYC (in economy, more’s the pity) in a couple of weeks and having status will affect my booking decision. If I’m Gold, I will 100% go with Virgin for the lounge. If not, I’ll stick with BA as I’m Silver there through to November.

    Thanks for any advice!

Log in on-line (as opposed to via the app), choose the ‘My Wallet’ option then ‘View your digital membership card’. You get a view of your membership card that includes an expiry date on here.

Ah thanks! Yep that is well hidden.

The membership card says expiry is July 2022, so sadly I have to assume that there is just a bit of a delay in updating it in their systems, and I probably won’t still be showing as Gold by the time I take the flight!

as per my https://www.headforpoints.com/forums/topic/gold-renewal-and-year-expiration/ post, there’s something very wrong with Virgin’s FC systems at the moment:

    Flight’s not posting
    Tier points not updating
Tier points summary not reset despite hitting gold in June
Tier points not updating despite miles hitting my account
The mobile app does NOT show
Mobile app does NOT show my status expiration
Activity is empty (despite it showing in the Virgin Red app, thankfully)
