Hi,
I have about 30 TPs this year, but am Bronze carried over from last year.
Do I need the full 600 TPs to reach silver by my May expiry date, or do I only need to get the difference (600-300 = 300) to get Silver, which I would then keep until May 2024?
Reason is, I have two seats in a 787 LHR-SYD in August and no seats are reserved yet – so it is £110 each to book window seats with direct aisle access. Well worth it for almost 23 hours! But I am hopeful that we might get Qatar flights, even at the last minute – so then the seat reservation fees would be lost.
But if I spent a bit on a TP optimised BA Holiday from Scotland, then I might be able to earn the 270 points needed for little more than the £220 extra it would cost over a direct Lo-Co flight etc.
You need to earn 600 TPS and fly 4 BA segments in your current collection year (sounds like that’s May 22-May 23) to get Silver, which is then valid for the remainder of the current collection year and the following year, as you say.
Yes you need the full 600
There is no “credit” in your new collection year from being bronze. Many would wish there was.
I assume that’s actually LHR-SING-SYD on BA in which case I’d double check the sear costs in case there are actually separate fees for each of the two legs.
And of course bronze would allow seat selection 7 days before the flight.
