Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club How often does long-haul BA flight change?

  • 16 posts

    Hi,

I have a redemption avios flight from LHR to SIN in a few months and avios redemption availability has open up for the new CS currently (different timing).

Do they often change the planes for these often for long-haul and if it’s worth paying £35/pp to change it to the new CS?

    Many thanks in advance.

How much more would you pay in cash for a 100% promise of CS over CW.

I personally would pay at least £350 one way if not more. So are you willing to pay 10% of that on a gamble. I would, but be prepared to write it off and don’t sweat.

I would go for the Club Suite – but note that the timing from LHR is a few hours different for the two flights.
    I prefer the earlier departure.

Thanks. Paid £35/pp to move up my flight to the one with CS- unless there’s a operational change.

BA plane swapping is here to stay and likely to get worse as they have ordered a bunch of different planes, existing planes go in for re-configuration and some planes go tech.

The CW vs CS issue, which is the focus here, is not getting worse it’s getting better. While plane swaps will always be a feature of all airlines, by the end of next year all the long haul LHR fleet except the A380’s should be CS, so in that respect the passenger won’t need to care what aircraft they are flying on.

While longer term route allocations can change, it’s rare for a booked A380 to be swapped for something else at short notice.

You can try and track how often that particular flight has club suite. I have been using https://trackmyseat.com/ which I have found really useful, as it shows how frequently that flight number has club suite.
Unfortunately, I’ve just checked and the website appears to be down. Not sure if this is temporary or a permanent shutdown. I remember someone saying that data collection was incredibly expensive.
