How to cancel an Amex Membership Rewards card

Hi, I have the amex gold MR card and the Basic MR card. They both seem to be collecting there own balances of MR points. I’m looking to cancel my gold card. Will I lose my MR points on this card? Is there a way of pooling my MR balances together?

They shouldn’t have their own pots. You’ll need to contact Amex to merge these pots before cancelling, else you risk the Gold pot going into limbo.
