Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club How do I find BA selling class during booking?

  • 9 posts

    Hello

Grateful for any help in trying to see the BA selling class of your selected flight before you book and pay on ba.com.

When I google this, it says –

“When booking a flight on ba.com
You can click on the flight number link, during the booking process to find out the flight details. You’ll see a pop-up that looks like this, your fare class is shown beside ‘Selling class’.”

However on ba.com there is no pop-up when you click on ‘flight details’, this would appear to be an old iteration of the website? Now, when you click on flight details it opens up a further line and just shows the flight number and aircraft type.

If I book through the BA app then it does show the selling class when you open up the flight details, but I am interested in knowing what the selling class is for the ‘Economy Semi-Flex’ and ‘Economy Flex’ options which show as ‘online only fare’ on BA.com and don’t show on the app.

I would be grateful for any help.

    Thank you

Using the multi-city booking link on the website always takes you to the older booking site. This shows the booking class of each segment. Your itinerary doesn’t have to be truly multi-city.

It won’t help with semi-flex tickets though, as they’re not offered on the older booking pages. I also notice that, for some destinations accessible via connecting flights, the list of possible flight combinations is different between the two versions.

No doubt it won’t be long before they switch off the old site for cash fares and display of booking class will be enhanced away

    Thank you Andrew, really helpful.

Basically – I am looking at paying slightly more and getting the ‘semi-flex’ option mainly for status tier points purposes. The ‘Economy Standard’ fare is showing as ‘Q’ on the app. I don’t want to pay more for ‘semi-flex’ only to find it is still ‘Q’ and no better for tier points – I would assume that the semi-flex would be higher than Q but is that a safe assumption? Is it possible that semi-flex is also Q?

    Thank you for any wisdom!

Confused? Tier points are now based on eligible spend so booking class isn’t relevant..??!? (Or someone please correct me!)

Agreed, the fare class now has no bearing on TP for new BA bookings, unless it’s via a third party package where the fare is not disclosed which doesn’t appear to be the case here.

Sorry – should have explained, I am Qatar Privilege Club, so when booking on BA it will be based on the selling class in terms of the Status tier points I will receive in Privilege Club. ‘G”O”Q’ give the lowest amount of tier points.

    Thanks
