Would appreciate some advice if possible please.

We are a family of 4 looking to travel to the Far east next year using Avios points.

I have a 2 for 1 amex voucher and my wife has a 2 for 1 amex voucher.

The total Avios cost of the flights after using both 2 for 1 vouchers is going to be 480,000 points.

After some boosting of points, I have 338,000 points and my wife has 143000 points so between us we have the required points.

My plan is to use 240,000 of my points and book for myself and 1 child.

Will I have to pay to transfer 97000 points to my wife for her to book for herself and the other child? Or is there any other way around this?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sounds like you don’t currently have an Avios household account?

    Take a read of this

Aren’t you and your wife in a Household account? If not, create one via ba.com and you pool your avios when it comes to making redemption bookings. As you say, you’ll need to make 2 separate bookings with one adult and one child on each booking (if the kids are over 2), however, you will be able to use your combined avios to pay for both.

Where are you headed? Your only issue may be getting 4 seats on release if it’s a popular destination at peak time.

Sorry forgot to answer the question – we really want to fly in and out of Singapore but appreciate that may be tough to get so we are happy to look at any of KL, Hong Kong, Bangkok etc as ways in and out of the Far East for a couple of weeks.

There’s loads of info on here about ways to bag seats on high-demand routes, and don’t forget as well that you can fly into one airport and out of another.
