I’ve been emailed by my bank HSBC saying I will likely be accepted for their rewards credit card if I apply and will get 2500 points worth 25 quid. I’ve had a search of this site and can’t find anything about this particular card so assume it’s not worth considering. But has anyone got any thoughts about this? I don’t really need a new cc TBH as I use BA Amex or virgin MC but it’s always good to keep options open
You could close your Virgin card for 6 months and reopen to obtain their bonus again. In the intervening 6 months opening HSBC, obtaining their bonus, and accruing their points which are transferable to a number of airlines, Virgin likely one of them. I believe you’ll get 0.5 mile per £1 on the HSBC – but you’ll have have both bonuses.
Spend £10k on the HSBC in a year and you’ll be awarded another 2500 points bonus.

You’re confusing the HSBC premier cards with the rewards card. I believe the rewards card simply allow you to redeem the points as cash in select stores.
The premier cards, which allow you to transfer to airline miles, don’t have Virgin as a transfer partner. You can however transfer it to Avios, Asia Miles etc.
Earning rate is 0.5 mile per £ for the free card, while the WE card is 1 mile per £. It’s also spend £12k in a year on the Premier WE card to get the additional 20,000 miles. Free card has no bonus.
Ah yes, my mistake, thanks for the correction.
Thanks guys yes I had found the premier card on this site but not the rewards, doesn’t seem to be worth bothering with..
I really miss my HSBC Rewards credit card. For a while it was easily the most lucrative card in my wallet thanks to a mix of decent cashback offers and IT quirks. Plus the way the cashback is paid beats a lot of other cards – it is awarded a few days after qualifying transactions and can be redeemed against anything. As opposed to being paid quarterly in paper shop vouchers or once a year.
Only let it go because HSBC have a one credit card policy and I upgraded to Premier WE but I’d love to have it again.

Very intriguing – is this mentioned somewhere in the T&Cs? I was not aware of this limitation.
