Forums Payment cards American Express Hyatt statement credit offer – beware

  • 6 posts

Morning all, tried to use the Hyatt statement credit offer this week, £100 for a £300 spend. Booked direct and used my card at reception, this was the Hyatt Albert Embankment hotel listed in the terms.

The amount posted to my card today and it turns out Hyatt are using a payment facilitator (3C) to process payments.

After a chat with Amex support certain facilitators are excluding from the offer and I need to wait 10 days before escalation.

I’ve fallen foul of some of these offers terms before, like paying on the hotels website in advance rather than on checkout, so I make sure I read them thoroughly beforehand now.

With only one way to pay on reception checkout please be very wary if wanting to try and redeem this offer.

I’ve never had a problem with the Hilton Amex offer when the hotels used 3C. The credit often posts a few days after the charge.

When you say the amount posted, do you mean the full cost of the stay? That would be normal and then you’d get the credit a few days later, as John says.

That said, I did have an issue with a Hyatt offer last year and had to chase it several times. Amex insisted that I hadn’t saved it and only capitulated when I provided a screenshot – which I now take with all the offers!

I too would recommend you sit tight for a bit. One time I split a Hyatt stay across two cards. Same terminal, seconds apart. One credit posted the day after the transaction, the other credit took a few weeks.

Will appear on your xx May statement as 3CPAYMENT*HYATT REGENCY LONDON

Got statement credit the next day!

Yes, 3C is not an issue.

It’s also true that in most cases, a 3C changes and when the pending payment clears, the final payment shows without 3C.

    Anyway, you’ll get your money.
