Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Iberia Express experience

In case anyone is interested in what Iberia Express deliver for the equivalent of BA Club Europe, OH and I flew LGW – LPA via MAD today. Check in/bag drop at LGW was easy, through fast track in less than 5.mins and into the usual BA lounge, which I find much nicer than Galleries north and south at LHR. Boarding was chaotic as everyone seemed to be claiming they were grupo uno. On board was good, we had row 1 which is always nice. I’d forgotten that I’d actually been able choose seats when booking this companion voucher redemption, despite my lowly status. Is this normal for IB? On board service was friendly and attentive. Food was a no choice Spanish style omelette with fruit salad and an identified pudding or starter, it was not easy to tell. It was fine. Plenty of drinks were offered, even for a 2 hour flight. Transitting Madrid 4s to 4 was a bit of a faff, including passport control and security scanning again. Scrum on boarding. At least we arrived LPA as domestic passengers though. Decent service on board with a perfectly ok chicken and veg dish, bulgar wheat salad starter and a moussy thing for dessert. Again, plenty of drinks. Overall, pretty decent. I noticed food was supplied by DO&CO. We’re going back direct on BA, it will be interesting to compare.

I’ve only ever known a boarding scrum with IB at LHR and MAD. I am not sure it would be within their culture to address it.

Oddly, with a rare positive for MAN, their ground handling agent there does a better job of boarding by group.
