I just received an email from Iberia mentioning that soon (doesn’t mention the exact date), avios would be collected based on the ticket price… would BA follow?
The eligible per €uro spend also doesn’t include carrier imposed charges which make up a big chunk of BA fares if they decide to move in this direction.
“ at Iberia Plus we know that the way people travel is changing, that’s why we’re adapting to evolve with the times. The way you collect Avios on your flights is about to change.
Until now, Avios have been earned based on air miles flown, but from now on you will collect Avios for every euro* you spend. This new method is clearer and easier, just the way you like things.
Of course, every time you fly, you will still collect Elite Points the same way you always have, enabling you to move through tiers and unlock more advantages.
We’ll be in touch soon with further details. “
Any news if BA is going the same way?
Apparently the press release states that BA will also be adopting revenue based avios earning in 2023.
