Firstly a thank you to the regular posters on the HfP forums. I’ve learned a lot from your knowledgeable advice and benefitted from it. I will resolve to post more often on here in order others can benefit from my travel experiences.
Talking of which…I’ve spent the past five days at the Iberostar Andalucia Playa. It is a highly rated hotel and the ratings are justified. Location, rooms and service are generally excellent. It is fairly well priced for the offering. It is 1hr30m from Seville and 45m from Cadiz.
There was nil IHG recognition on check in and a few follow up conversations with an assistant manager did not go well. Her response was “unlucky!” I’m paraphrasing of course but that was the gist of it. More fool me for expecting anything!
I’ve enjoyed more hits than misses with IHG so will chalk this one up to experience.
Thanks for this, I’m toying with the idea of booking an Iberostar property next year for a chunk of nights towards the suite upgrade award, and I’ve never visited the Cadiz area. What meal basis did you book (just wondering if they offer packages and whether they’re worth it)? Did you get any kind of upgrade – I’m guessing not from what you said?!
Hi, we booked on a half board basis and the food offering is good. Upmarket buffet style with chefs at each food station to cook your order fresh. There are two other restaurants on site, one of which, Cataria, is in the Michelin guide.
No upgrades were offered. I’ve read on FT that others have been more lucky. There was a Deloitte conference on during our stay therefore I assume they took all the premium rooms and suites.
It does look lovely. Definitely on the list now. I was thinking maybe Mallorca but I’ve been there twice already. This would fit in well with a planned road trip to Cordoba and Seville.
This is the press release regarding the benefits at Iberostar for IHG members – I assume your hotel is a participating hotel https://www.ihgplc.com/en/news-and-media/news-releases/2023/ihg-one-rewards-benefits-now-available-at-participating-iberostar-beachfront-resorts
We stayed at the Iberostar in Lanzarote earlier in the year and it took me several tries to get them to recognise that I was entitled to the benefits my Lounge pass gives at their hotels. Eventually they relented and we had access to the Star Privilege area which included free drinks during the day and a pool area. We had booked on points so just had bed and breakfast.
