Booked 3 nights King Classic room for a w/e in Oct with Ambassador voucher for the 2nd night. Lounge access is, IIRC from the app, £180/night which I’m reluctant to pay as we’ll be out a lot of the time. Does anyone know if nearer the stay they may email with the offer of a reduced price for the lounge or, when they (hopefully) give us a decent Ambassador upgrade it might include lounge access? Never stayed here as usually use the Kimpton Russell Square for convenience but I don’t see us using the voucher anywhere else this year as no other travel plans to anywhere that has a IC hotel!
Although the hotel could elect to waive that condition, an Ambassador upgrade to a room/suite that would ordinarily give lounge access expressly excludes such access as part of the deal.
You might want to check out the IC Park Lane thread on Flyertalk, it’s full of detail on what kind of upgrades are likely!
From previous experience, it’s rare that anyone gets upgraded to a club room, and I think the Ambassdor rate for the lounge might be £150 (possibly worth it but only if you use it 3 x per day which would interfere with activities!)
If you rebooked your 3rd night via Emyr, you would get lounge access for that day, so it’s worth checking whether that would be better value.
The IHG T&Cs are pretty specific that upgrades to club level rooms don’t come with lounge access so you either need to pay for it separately, pay for a club room from the start or have a one rewards lounge pass.
I’ve not heard of them reducing the price closer to a stay.
IIRC the AMB cert can be used on room rates that do include lounge access which could be cheaper than paying for it separately.
Thanks all. It didn’t offer a Ambassador certificate rate that included lounge access when booking & I thought T & Cs didn’t include it if upgraded. I have just looked again but the app now saying no Ambassador rooms available on our dates so I will just keep checking. One of the reasons I usually use it elsewhere is that I’ve generally found overseas properties to be far more generous & had really good upgrades with lounge included in Budapest & Warsaw to name a couple. Park Lane IC probably has a different level of clientele though & maybe much busier! I will also check the Flyertalk forum.
Also been upgraded and given lounge access several times. Best example being Oman where got 2x rooms upgraded with full lounge access for 5 days…. Was then Diamond with no Lounge access, so worked perfectly. I asked politely without a hint of any expectation. It works sometimes, sometimes not.!!

Loved the 70s retro of the IC Muscat & we used to use it a lot when we lived out there. Trader Vics was a favourite of the kids. Although the Crowne Plaza was also good. We really need to go back for a visit!
Book via Emyr.
Hotel has a 342 running AND all bookings get free lounge access, see https://www.virtuoso.com/travel/luxury-hotels/6164301/intercontinental-london-park-lane
Stayed in the IC PL several times and have always had room upgrades in line with policy or better, but I have never been offered lounge access with the upgrade or offered a discounted rate for it.
As @NorthernLass says, lounge access is included if you book with Emyr this year. I wouldn’t bother paying for it, though: Mayfair has no many fabulous places to eat and drink, it’s a shame to waste time in your hotel.
We did the 342 via Emyr earlier this year and got upgraded to a junior suite, it was a brilliant deal after losing Diamond status this year! It was the weekend of the VE Day celebrations and we watched the flyover from the lounge, which has excellent views.
You can’t combine this with the Ambassador free night, though, unless you do 5 nights (which wouldn’t be a hardship!)
