Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards IHG and e-Rewards

At https://www.e-rewards.co.uk/rewards it implies that there is a way to get IHG points via e-Rewards. Now that there is no IHG credit card to stop my points expiring, does anyone know if there is an e-Rewards scheme dedicated to IHG, like Club Opinions for Accor and Guest Opinion Rewards for Hilton?

    Thanks

As in one that -only- gives points for IHG?

Don’t know that one, but e-rewards would work fine for stopping balance expiry. 3000 e-rewards points gets you 1000 IHG points. 6000 gives 2200, and 10000 gives 4000.

I’ve got just over 8k e-rewards points sitting there gathering dust, wanting to know where their new home should be.

I don’t understand why you need a dedicated one. Just use e-rewards. The redemption rates are:

    1000 IHG = 3000 ER
    2200 IHG = 6000 ER
    4000 IHG = 10000 ER

and if you get lots of points and you dont want to transfer to IHG there are multiple ways of transferring out. I keep my AA miles alive by doing one every 18 months or so but there’s Accor, Hilton, United, Etiahad and loads more to choose from.

Every e-Rewards a/c is different, it would seem. I have two (sshh): yes they both allow me to transfer to various airline schemes (about once a year I transfer to Iberia just as you do to AA).

But the hotel schemes, in my experience, seem to be limited to just one – in my case one a/c is Accor and the other is Hilton.

One puzzle is that transfers to Accor take around 20 – 28 hours, while transfers to Hilton take weeks, and on one occasion in the past, months.

I did have an IHG one many, many years ago, but I was ordered to close one of my two a/cs (at the time) and the IHG one went as it only had a handful of points in it.
At the time it was no big deal, as I had ongoing status (= no points expiry) through holding a credit card. But things are different now.

The page I quoted also says that you can convert to Choice and Radisson, but I have never seen an e-Rewards scheme that actually allows it.

@RusselH yes I know they’re different but surprised you dont have IHG on yours. Mine lists Accor, Choice, Hilton, IHG nd Melia for hotels.

Hilton are just slow on everything 🙂 Apparently their latest trick in the US mainly is not add your stay points until you chase them. Presumably saves a fortune because lots of people will never check.

Have you checked since e-rewards revamped their website a few weeks ago? I’ve got all the hotel options, a few airlines, and other shopping offers.

Yes. Logged in several times since the “upgrade”.
Using one login, only hotel is Hilton.
Airlines are AA, BA, Etihad, AF-KLM, IB, UA + VS.
Plus Amazon, Lakeland, Zizzi, M+S, Sainsbury’s, TKMax, Uber + MasterCard.

IHG, Radisson. Choice etc all mentioned on the link from the home page, but not on offer as reward partners.
No sign up link on the home page either.

Just found an old bookmark to “IHG Opinion Check-in” https://www.opinioncheckin.co.uk/, which I believe was an e-Rewards scheme dedicated to IHG, but the link is dead.
Odd, though as Whois says that the domain is registered until March next year. Originally registered in 2016.

Probably worth giving them a shout through their support channels to find out why IHG etc is missing.

Replacement for IHG Credit Card? Any gossip on the grapevine whether there is a replacement in the wings?
