Website and app have been down for over 24 hours now, can’t access account details or bookings or make new bookings. Hotels apparently can’t access the system either. Reported elsewhere (LL). If you’ve got any imminent stays you may need your original email confirmation.
The only info currently showing in my app is number of nights stayed – but 0 points and 0 reservations! It was down for most of yesterday but came back in the early evening but is now down again.
Yep, major global outage – thought it would have been sorted by now, does make you wonder about a ransomware attack. Give how rubbish their account security was for years (PIN only) I don’t imagine their main security is much better!

I hope it comes back with another points “sale” …
On another note, Player 2 joined Ambassador over the weekend, payment option was declined twice then successful when using 40k points. Yesterday both the declined payments posted! Have emailed Ambassador.
Seems to be partially back up again now – I can sign in and see my status/balance, but not upcoming stays or recent transactions
Oh dear. Perhaps they took it down so they can fix whatever it was that caused the three recent flash sales. Such a pity as it seemed a good opportunity to give customers from time to time and for limited periods.
I’m surprised more people aren’t shouting loudly about this.
It’s down now for the second day, no ability to book, edit or cancel bookings – this is pretty major! I’ve also read reports of some IHG phone lines being down too, so some customers can’t even make or cancel bookings on the phone!
Some functionality seems to have started and stopped again in some geographies, but clearly there is still a major issue.
Some noise on Twitter but I expected there to be more.I’m surprised more people aren’t shouting loudly about this.
That’s because thanks to Creation we’re all running out of IHG points now. If the Hilton site went down it would go crazy on here! 😃
I’ve just received an email confirming my upcoming reservation at the InterContinental O2 but some of the links from it are not working. I was quite surprised to receive it, given the current state of play, but I suspect it’s emanated from the hotel directly, maybe? The ability to log in to IHG has been sporadic too.
I just tried to login and it only shows how many days I have visited nothing more, all my past and future stay have disappeared, along with my points. It’s as if I have been wiped off their super secure database. What did I do wrong☹️☹️☹️

It’s almost the first anniversary of the Creation/Curve texts!
Hack finally initially confirmed I see – pretty poor it took them 2 days to actually announce something. All booking channels apparently inoperative at present – years of underinvestment in IT seems to be coming home to roost…
From Hargreaves-Lansdown:-
“IHG is working to fully restore all systems as soon as possible and to assess the nature, extent and impact of the incident,” it said. “We will be supporting hotel owners and operators as part of our response to the ongoing service disruption. IHG’s hotels are still able to operate and to take reservations directly.”
A further update will be provided as and when appropriate.
Looking forward to the data breach claims, assuming personal data has been stolen…
I love how Reuters describes IHG as “Holiday Inn owners”!
The app is “working” in that I can see the 4 upcoming stays that I’ve got at the Kimpton Clocktower next June (chose there to see what it is that you rave about @NorthernLass – no pressure….. 😉), but my points total is zero. Hopefully the back-up they restore from is a couple of weeks old, before I made those bookings….. 🙄
@Chas, remember both my stays were between lock downs when I hadn’t stayed anywhere nice for some time! I’d definitely stay there again though, however prices are a bit silly at the moment when there are plenty of much more reasonable IHG choices in the city, including the very nice Indigo.
I have points but no stays showing in both desktop and app, hoping they have not “lost” all the flash sale bookings I made. Glad I keep those emails until after the stay now …

You can’t wriggle out of your recommendations that easily Anna…..! 😉. It was quite pricey on a cash perspective but I got c0.6p per point, and each of the 2 nights (x2 rooms) was booked separately to facilitate changes, so I might be able to improve on that too in the next 9 months. I’ve enjoyed my stays at other Indigo’s but I’m not familiar with the Manchester one – will check it out once everything is up and running again. I have sufficient points (or should have once the systems are back….) to have both booked if necessary (assuming their IT allows).
Kimpton Clocktower is the only place I’ve seen discarded food items left uncleared from communal areas for fully 48 hours.
That’s not pleasant… Plenty of time for me to change my mind or find a better value booking though.
My account is back up and running via the app, and sadly my points balance seems correct incl my recent redemptions 😢
It’s still not quite right though – I’ve looked at a couple of points bookings and they show as available when I do a city-wide search but when I click through to an individual property I get a message that the rate isn’t available.
