Ok
So I’m not too concerned but just wondering how I can work this to my advantage -if anything.
Return flight back from LAS to LHR via LAX has been cancelled. September flight 🙂
So LAS-LAX cancelled
LAX-LHR (2 hr same day connection) still remains.
I assume the “system” will rebook\rejig\ the connecting flights so that they marry up but will that be
1 day earlier (Not ideal)
2 One day later (not a problem)
3 A day at my choosing-??
Any ideas at this early stage ?
I guess it depends what you would consider to be to your advantage……..you could ask to be rerouted eg LAS – MIA – LHR which would be 280 TPS instead of 180 , if you are on a cash flight and need extra TPs for status ?
Thanks for the reply
Yes it is a ca$h flight.
Extra Tier points would not go amiss.
How about a direct flight LAS -Lhr on say-AA?

In theory you can ask for any sensible reroute so if a direct flight would work better for you, you can try for that. Obvs BA do LAS-LGW direct but that’s possibly not good if the original plan was LHR.

There is a Direct flight 21:30 BA0274 to LHR which I believe is a daily one.
Should I ring and ask for that one before the system re-allocates?
Even if the system auto rebooks you you still have to accept it so still fine to look for and ask for reasonable alternatives that work for you.
But should you accept the auto-rebook it shuts down you asking for alternatives.

Thanks, though slightly confused here.
“if the system auto rebooks you you still have to accept it so still fine to look for and ask for reasonable alternatives that work for you.”
Should that read “not have to accept it” as otherwise it does not make sense.
My preferred option would be a direct flight LAS-LHR

That’s what I did in a similar situation a few months back – system was showing no viable alternatives, so rang BA, told them what my preferred alternative was ( LAS-MIA-LHR when they’d cancelled the first leg of our LAS-PHL-LHR) and it was all sorted in a few minutes. Hope they can do they same for you…..

What I wrote is correct.
Just because the system moves you to another flight does not mean you have to accept that flight.
Until you hit “confirm” or whatever it says it is still only a suggestion by BA. It simply means they have found space on an alternative flight for you.
If you are happy with that suggestion then accept it but as I also said it also locks you out of going back and saying “actually can I have …”
“Just because the system moves you to another flight does not mean you have to accept that flight.”
Key statement which is what I assume you were saying.
I shall see if I can get a direct flight LAS-LHR
Thanks for the input
Just gone into MMB and I can select the direct flight (in fact any flight on ANY date)
So just need to think what I want-Extra days in Vegas AND or tier points OR direct flight home.
DUMB Q
Not that I’ve tried it yet, but could I change the OUTBOUND flight at no cost too?
