Forums Other Destination advice Intercontinental Le Grand or Kimpton Paris

    Hello!

Have two speculative bookings for both the intercontinental le grand and Kimpton Paris when IHG reward nights were 40/45k per night.

I know they are both in the same area but does anyone have any recent experience at either? I’m a Diamond member at IHG rewards.

    Thanks!

I’m sure Rob has done fairly recent reviews of both hotels so have a look for those.

We stayed in both on consecutive redemption nights last year. We preferred the Kimpton, which is more of a modern vibe. If you prefer traditional style hotels, Le Grand is the one for you

If you picked Lounge Access after 40 nights this year, then definitely choose the IC (food choices have improved since reopening after Covid)

I stayed at the Kimpton soon after it opened and it was all a bit of a disaster (staff really did their best to make up for it) Hotels are across the road from each other and a lot of the younger staff moved over from the IC. If you’re young yourself, you might find the IC too stuffy & old fashioned:)

I cancelled an autumn stay at IC Le Grand booked on the intern points rate after recent reports of widespread mice downstairs

Don’t forget there is an indigo just next to the Kimpton and the IC. We did not like the Kimpton at all, enjoyed the breakfast at the IC (except for their scrambled eggs which were disgusting), but overall liked the indigo the most. Great rooms, super friendly and very boutique.

    Thanks for all the advice!

I’ve logged on to my IHG app and I’ve noticed the intercontinental booking is now showing as a junior suite so a nice upgrade already in place there over the essential room at the Kimpton which looks like a bit of a shoebox so looking like Intercontinental wins!

If it’s a Junior Suite then keep it – these are the best rooms they have (in my opinion).

Kimpton base rooms are small, my daughter had one in August.
